I am more a Hui Neng school than a Shenxiu school kind of guy. To me, there is nothing to do, whereas many Buddhists are busy with doing. The self is an illusion. But the fact that it is an illusion does not mean that "you" won't suffer from it. Just think of the times you have a nightmare. The fact that it is not "real" does not mean that it won't trouble you. So, cultivation is still important in that sense. The question then is what is practice and what is meditation. I go with Krishnamurti on that matter.
